Do you count the calories when you eat salads (minus the dressing) or veggies as a snack. On other diet plans, they encourage you to eat alot of vegetables. But on here they take up calories. I thought because they don't contain any fat or carbs, that maybe I could get away with not listing them on my diary. Any thoughts?

Most of the people I work with are on Weight Watchers and with the new point system they get fruits and vegetables for free (which some exceptions). I think if you eat them in moderation that not adding them will made a big deal, but I know people that take advantage of them being free and eat literally a freezer bag of them in one sitting. If you're doing that multiple times a day it is going to add up. Plus, even though it's natural, there's a lot of sugar in most fruit.0

I would still put them on, because it's still calories in...I love putting veggies onto my tally because I see how much of them I can eat! I ate an entire green bell pepper last night and it was about 36 calories (or some ridiculously low number). It encourages me to just load up the veggies instead of relying on starches or carbs as the bulk of my meal. Now I eat 3x as much brocolli/other veg as whatever grain I have on my plate.
I say still put it on. It's not going to ad that much to your tally anyway, and it's probably better for your mental health to see how much you've eaten with so few calories.0 -
I add them because I'm watching my macros, and I ALWAYS include my dressing, which is rice vinegar and a little bit of seasonings. No oil. No cals0

I always include my veggies...no real justification other than I record everything.0 -
two cups of lettuce has 11 calories, so i don't think it has that big of an impact on your daily totals!0

Yep, I always count them. They do take up calories, but not very many, and with how I look at it, even if my diary doesn't know all the calories I ate, my body does and it's the one who decides to take off weight or not.0

I don't believe in free foods. If I consume the calories, no matter the form or amount, my body has to either use or store those calories. So I log pretty much everything. The only things I don't log are very small amounts of things, like 2 cloves of garlic in a recipe, and spices0

It would really depend on your diet you're doing though. If you are doing a low cal diet, then i would count them, if you are doing a low carb diet, i would only count the carbs, the calories are so small its negligible to the amount you are going to eat based on its carbs.0

I usually do...but try not to worry about it too much. If listing each vegetable precludes you from logging, I'd just enter "2 cups carrots," instead of "1/2 cup romaine, 1/2 cup baby spinach, 1/4 mushrooms, 3 tablespoons shredded carrots" etc etc.0

I log everything, even the cloves of garlic. I want a true and accurate picture of what I consume. And I eat mostly fruits and vegetables anyway. If I don't log the veggies, that's a large part of my calorie intake that isn't accounted for.0

I log everything I eat (spices are the one usual exception), and don't really see the point in NOT logging veggies - they still have calories & nutrients that don't magically disappear just because you didn't write it down. A bulk of my food for the day includes fresh fruits & veggies, so I'd really be doing myself a huge disservice if I didn't keep track of them. Not only is it important for me to see how much of my diet I'm keeping as fresh produce, but I need to be able to make sure I'm hitting all my nutrient levels for the day.0

I log EVERYTHING i eat. Mostly to ensure i'm getting my vitamins and nutrients, but also to keep myself honest...0
