Anybody tried Chalene Johnson and Jillian Michaels?

I did the full Turbo Fire schedule, followed by the full Chalean Extreme schedule, and now I am doing a hybrid of Turbo Fire and Chalean Extreme.
I love Chalene Johnson, but I would really like to mix things up. I have nearly off of Jillian Michaels DVD's (some not even open) because I have been sticking to the schedule on the Beachbody programs. Are the Jillian Michael's dvds a good switch?
Thanks!

I sometimes like to substitute Jillian Michaels DVDs into my programs when I get bored.0

Honestly as long as you're moving and you're having fun it doesn't really matter who's program you do maybe incorporate some weight training as well? I have done both programs and I think they're fun and challenging so just mix it up and HAVE FUN!0

I've done 30 Day Shred, and it was a good workout. I just moved myself up to Ripped about two weeks ago, and that's a little more difficult. On days when I have the time I try to fit in Extreme Shed and Shred, and I like that really well, but that seems to leave me in fat burning mode for a longer period of time than the other ones. It's made the difference between losing inches but not weight and now losing both! Shed and Shred is kind of fun, too.0

I've done both individually (and have found them to VERY effective!!!) but right now I'm doing my own version of a Chalene Johnson (Chalean Extreme) and Jillian Michaels (30 Day Shred) hybrid with different cardio workouts and core thrown in.
I find it a great mix because the CHX is very slow with heavy weights and the 30DS has a much higher cal burn with lighter weights and it's a shorter workout as well. CHX is a 3 month series, so once I'm done with 30DS I'll start with Ripped in 30.
In any case, Jillian will kick your butt because you can go as hardcore as you want--but you don't have to--she presents some less extreme modification also--which still kick butt.
Since you already have them, you might as well give them a try. Which ones do you have?0 -
I have:
Killer buns and thighs
Ripped in 30
Yoga Meltdown
30 Day Shred
Banish Fat Boost Metabolism
No More Trouble Zones
I might have extreme Shed and Shred
After much debate with myself I pre ordered her kickboxing dvd0 -
I have only done Jillian Michaels.I like her 30ds...it's quick and that's why it's motivating.I love her banish fat and boost metabolism. It's longer and it's fun. Cardio kickboxing is shorter but good cardio.
I never tried Chalene Johnson. What kind of workouts she does?
Extreme shed and shred is Jillian's?0 -
If you’ve done so many great Chalene programs you'll hate Jillian. She's loud but not in a positive way, annoying with dumb sayings like 'phone it in' and production quality on those DVD's is so cheap, the music is very classic early '90 fitness videos. 30DS can challenge you but to work out with someone so unpleasant to all the senses makes you realize why Beachbody programs are $100+ while 30DS is 10 measly dollars.0

I have Chalean Extreme, Turbofire and 30 Day shred. They are very different. I get bored with 30DS because it's a three 20 minute workouts. Where as with CE and TF you get a lot more variety.
I tend to do CE for my weight training and will do 30DS on my non heavy lifting days when I am short on time. The CE workouts on non heavy lifting days are closer to 45 minutes and at times I just don't have it and would rather do a 20 minute 30DS routine than nothing at all. But doing it daily has me bored by day 3. Even CE had me bored by week 4. (I am so happy to move from Burn it to Push it tomorrow! New routines!) So doing 30DS daily for a month would drive me batty.0 -

I totally agree! I've done Turbo Fire since Feb of last year. And I've done 30DS and 6wk 6 pack abs (Jillian). Gotta say, the Jillian programs aren't as challenging - I'm not drowning in sweat like I am after Turbo Fire -- my heart rate doesn't go up and stay up as much with a Jillian program. I think hers are designed for people that don't exercise regularly. Don't get me wrong - there are some challenging moves, but yes the programs are only 20 mins long. I'm just getting warmed up after 20 mins. And there's a lot of repetition on a Jillian program. Same workout every day for 1-2 wks - level one.
TF there's something new to do every day. Usually don't repeat a workout until the next week. That's really important to me. Keeps me interested in exercise and excited to come back to it every day.
TF is worth the money!0 -
I did try an ab workout from Jillian and an ab workout from Chalene, and Chalene's was much more difficult! I love Chalene's energy. Maybe I'll try Chalene most days, and give Jillian one for a while just to try to get use out of her dvd's.
Thanks everybody!0 -
which would you guys suggest for people who are extremely overweight and new to working out but would like variety so no plateau is hit.0

I can't stand Jillian, I love Chalene, but I've only done Turbo Jam, want T.F & C.E. though.0

I've been working out for the past 7 years hard core..and Jillian still kills me...I guess its based on what works for you.0 -
I think the P90 was a great way to start as a beginner.
Now, I like dvds that do both cardio and strength. I like the 30ds. I do Wk 1 on Mon, Wk 2 Tues ect. I also like Tony Horton's Fat Burning Express. Looking forward to trying Chalene.0
