UK greengrocers

Any people from the UK mainly buy their vege's etc from a greengrocer rather than the supermarkets?? How does the price/quality compare??

I try to when I can, it's so hit and miss. Sometimes things are much cheaper from the independents, especially farmers markets. On the whole supermarkets are cheaper, especially if you're looking for out of season stuff, like asparagus at the moment. Last weekend I saw kale and spinach at a farmers market at half the price of even Asda!
