When I did Weight Watcher's before I was told to use the 100 cal packs for snacks....
So I was wondering...are these helpful or do they hurt more than help?
Also, another question thats just a TAD different but relates to the same thing....
If you are CRAVING sweets...are the 100 cal packs of cookies and such a good idea or are there better low fat/low cal/low stuff out there?!
Can't wait to hear some responses or opinions on this.
No sarcasm, rudeness, or anything neeed!!!
Thanks y'all

So, the 100 cal packs are a brilliant marketing campaign. However, if it works for you and you don't have a problem paying more per whatever unit of snack item, then go for it.
If you don't have a problem just buying a larger container of the snack item and weighing out portions and putting them in bags yourself, then that will be less expensive.
As far as the question about sweets go, it's a little personal. if what you're really craving is a cookie and you think you can eat them in moderation, just have a cookie, track it, and make sure it fits into your daily totals. If you just want a little something sweet and you don't really care what kind of sweet it is, have a piece of fruit or something with a bit of fiber.0 -
I totally forgot about getting the big boxes and just portioning it out.
I used to do that too - I completely SPACED! LOL!!(thanks for making me remember :P)
Alright - yea on the sweets its just sometimes I see a piece of chocolate and I'm like uuughhhh and I just WANT tons of it...
Thanks so much for you input, so greatly appreciated0 -
I've been diggin the 100 calorie smart pop popcorn bags lately. Almost all other 100 cal packs I've tried have made no difference at all as far as my hunger goes that I just stopped eating them.0

Yea - back when I was doing Weight Watcher's I ate the 100 cal packs of Popcorn...
I intend to buy some when I go grocery shopping Monday - I will really miss my extra butter popcorn but thats not part of healthy.0 -
I say that if it works for you, yes. I find them to be a waste of calories for me, personally. I have a huge appetite so I'd rather spend 100 calories on a plain Greek yogurt or 4 oz of chicken breast because that will actually fill me up more. The 100 calorie packs just piss me off and leave me craving more. So for me, no... They are empty calories and trigger more cravings. If it works for you and kills those cravings and leaves you satisfied.. Go for it! It's not a one-size-fits-all journey so when you find something that helps you stick to your goals.. Run with it!0

Thanks so much you are totally right about them...sometimes I'm just so aggravated cause I want more. But sometimes they're just the right thing to stop my cravings. Soo I guess it depends on my mood LOL! thanks again0

The only 100 calorie bag/pack I will invest in is POPCORN (Kettlecorn or butter). The rest are a waste of money. I buy in bulk and use my food scale to measure out portions, and even make low cal trail mixes, or candy mixes (when I gotta have the sweets)
I do the popcorn because my husband and I love movie nights, but we hate sharing our popcorn (as we are both addicted). So, we each grab our own bag, and that's that. (oh and they're actually filling, not llike those 4 cookie bags)0 -
I love the 100 cal popcorn, too. It's a decent volume of snackiness for the calories. The other 100-cal packs are a tiny volume of food - they can be quite yummy but if you're really hungry they are not going to be enough. If you're just craving a certain flavor (sweet, salty, etc) but don't have a bottomless pit in your stomach, they can be nice. But for actual *hunger* you're going to want more volume than what you get in most 100-cal packs.
Yogurt or a piece of fruit can come in around 100 calories depending on your exact choice, and tend to be more filling than those packs, too. :-)0 -

Exactly.
Unfortunately my microwave at work doesn't work well and only pops about half the bag before burning the popped kernels. So its more like a 50 cal bag! lol. (I still log 100)0 -
I should add that I have some 100 calorie hostess snack cakes at home that are a lemon flavor. They are delicious and works well when I'm craving sweets. But I don't eat them often because there is still no nutrition in them at all. But more filling than the tiny bag o' cookies.0

I sort of have a love-hate relationship with these.
I love them because it's easy to see the portion size since it's already pre-packaged, but I hate them because I look at a pile of 12 of them and think "Wow, that could be ALL that I eat ALL day" and that's just not appealing to me because they're all snacky foods. I wish carrots or celery or other veggies or fruits came in "100 calorie snack packs". I'd eat THOSE all day long.0 -
I find the sweets cookies and chocolate bring on cravings for meso I dont buy them only for that reason. I do however eat fruit and yogurt to help with wanting sugar.0

My weakness: Smartfood ... I have the 100 calorie bags but it's ridiculous how expensive it is... so I have a large bag and portion it out... however I'm still eating more of it... sigh.0 -
Yea - I'm goingt to try avoiding the sweets and what not completely and all the snacky foods because once I have a few bites I don't want to stop eating them so I know I'll blow my diet if I do that.0
