How to eat Italian "light" and still manage weight

My daughter has been using your site successfully to help support her weight loss program. She recommended the site to me and I just started using it about three weeks ago. The thing I like the best about the site is that it is pretty painless to keep track of my eating and exercise every day.
I am a vegetarian and eat a mostly Mediterranean style diet like you find in Italy. I couldn't help noticing that my calorie counts for the food I eat are low and it has been pretty easy for me to stay within my goals so far, so I thought I would share that observation with others. The secret for me has been to keep the proportions small, especially of the pasta and bread, and use fresh ingredients, rather than pre-prepared sauces.
