formula to determine % of fat lost and % muscle gained

Kinda new and have not seen this topic so forgive me if it has been discussed. I have always wondered how to determine the amount of fat percentage lost and muscle percentage gained when one reaches their goal and it doesn't really have anything to do with the numbers on the scale. Is there some sort of formula to determine this or is it just done through careful measuring of fat percentage against actual weight lost.
