Hi Folks,
I just used my new HRM today but I noticed a MASSIVE discrepancy between the calories it says I burned and the elliptical trainer at the gym. They synced immediately, so the elliptical was calculating on my actual HR. . . 60 minutes HRM said I burned 413, elliptical said I burned 575. . . What do you think is more accurate?? Why such a huge difference?

When I use my HRM, I go by that instead of the machine. My HRM is set to my age, weight, sex and height. Most machines don't have all of those settings so they are giving a general calories burned totals. Remember guys burn more calories by default so the machines may be taking an average between men and women.0

I agree with the above poster. HRM's are designed to sync with your body and get a sense of it's rhythm while the machine wasn't designed specifically for that.0
