Substitution for margarine

I have a banana bread recipe that I would like to make healthier by substituting unsweetened applesauce for margarine. If I was using a half cup of margarine, how much applesauce would I use...the same amount...a half cup or would I use a little more?

I always replace with the same amount of applesauce.0

generally its a 1:1 conversion - so 1/2 a cup of margarine or butter = 1/2 cup applesauce. just be warned, it wont brown as much and might be more moist.0

What they said. Also, make sure to reduce the liquids in the rest of the recipe though if you are using a lot of applesauce.0

Oh and Cinnamon applesauce in brownies instead of oil...actually is really good in brownies...it gives it just a bit of a different taste, but it is good! Even my kids liked them!0
