Hey all(or whoever reads this),

I just started working out and am currently, doing yoga, pilates, and running while maintaining a net 1200 calorie diet. I'm wondering if anyone has any strength training routine recommendations. Right now I'm mainly exercising at home but would get some dumbbells or hit my school gym once I know what to do!

Thanks :)

  • Herpina,

Get a medicine ball maybe 5 lbs? and some free weights 5 lbs? And see these exercises

Train at home, gym, or where ever.

This also can give you more personalized schedules with what exercise you should be doing on what days, and lays out the whole program for you.

The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. Just don't over do it or you will rip things, ripping and the tearing. The ripping and the tearing. If you do serious strength training make sure you supplement it with some protein to help heal your muscles (beans, nuts, meat, milk, etc.)

    Goodluck and get ripped.

Try bodyrock.tv as well as the printable downloads on the women's health magazine website. Otherwise there is an exercise tv website with a bunch of free full length websites. Lastly check out crossfit workouts of the day (also called WOD), really hard circuits that canbe done at home or in the gym - the one I am currently working on involves 100 squats, pushups and toe touches, done in rounds of ten, so far i am up to six rounds of ten.
