Hey guys, Wondered if you could help me out. I've been having a low grade headache since Tuesday the 24th Jan, If I don't take some ibuprofen in the morning then it gets worse as the day progresses.

I've cut out de-caff tea with milk for rooibos, I've reduced my carb intake, I've upped the amount of veggies I eat, and I've had the odd protein shake here and there and I am trying to drink enough water daily. I'm also starting to lift heavy weights and alternate it with cardio.

What gives? Any ideas?

I notice when I take the dog for a walk I end up having a headache during the day, and I find that it must be her pulling on the lead all the time and making me pull my muscles out of place.

Maybe doing weights has caused that to yourself? The only other suggestion is drinking more water for dehydration but it sounds like you may be drinking enough

Good luck finding out the cause I know they're not fun :)

I get this when I am hungry: I don't feel hungry but I'll wake up with a dull "background" headache that doesn't go away. I usually see it as a sign that I am eating too few calories per day and up what I eat. If you work out, you can probably eat 1600 cal and keep losing weight (I saw your diary). You could try that and see if it helps.

If you've recently switched to decaff and reduced sugar intake, it could be caffeine and sugar withdrawal symptoms. They should subside within a couple of weeks. However, with the sudden onset of any persistent headache, I would seek medical advice just to be on the safe side. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though :)

When I stopped drinking caffeine in 2005, I had horrendous headaches for 3 weeks and couldn't figure out why...

I got glasses a week ago.... I never knew I had bad eyesight until I got my eyes checked... I didnt even realise my vision was blurry until I could see the difference while wearing glasses. My almost constant headache I'd had for the last 2 months or so has gone now too.

If you can get them tested for free I would, if anything just to rule that out.

Otherwise are you feeling run down, or dizzy at all? Headaches are just one symptom of so many things, if theres anything else that is out of the ordinary it could be related. Perhaps a chat to your doctor would be good too.

    Good point.

I switched to decaff 10 years ago, I very rarely drink caffinated liquid. What I have done is switched to a naturally decaffinated tea so there's no hocus pocus to remove the caffine...... Thought that might be it.......
  • Thanks guys, It's nice to know you're not alone!!!

Me too - it is common to get headaches with caffeine withdrawal - if that is the cause, you should be okay in a few more days. I'm about to give it up too in the hope that my energy levels will be more constant. Ibuprofen on stand-by!
  • Good news guys.....The headaches have stopped. YAY!!
