More Protein

I am insulin resistant and have PCOS. Because of this I've had to watch the amount of carbs I eat so as not have tons of insulin floating through my system. I never eat a carb without also eating protein. This will be my second day and it is my second day that I am going to go "over" on my protein. I'm still well in my calorie count - but over on my protein count. Does anyone else find themselves going over on protein? Is that a problem? Have you still had success with weight loss?

You can manually change your protein intake goal under the 'Goals' tab. MFP sets you up with the RDA of 15% calories from protein. Feel free to change that to 20% protein and 55% carbs. It poses no health risk to someone with normal kidney function. I personally set my goals to 50% carbs and 25-30% protein and fat.0

OK, totally off topic, but I wanted to share....
There is a drug called Metformin (Glucophage) that is used in treating diabetics. There have been quite a few studies showing that the medication reduces the symptoms of PCOS, but only if you are also insulin resistant..... You may want to do some research on it and ask your OB/GYN. I have PCOS, but am not insulin resistant, so I was told it would help in my situation.... Hopefully it helps you though! :flowerforyou: :smooched:

Thanks, I have taken Metformin before. I was actually diagnosed with PCOS about 8 years ago. At that time I went on the Metformin, started a low carb diet and did well for a time. However, the Metformin caused me to have terrible stomach problems that landed me in the ER a few times. I also developed some bizarre skin issues when on Metformin. For that reason, I haven't gone back to it. I know that if I lose the weight things will more than likely even out - I just have to make sure that I do it in a healthy way.
songbyrdsweet, thanks - I went in and changed my protein %'s as well - at least I won't feel like i've done something wrong when I look at my page. LOL!0
