I don't know what it is (or understand it) but i've read that he only accurate HRM is one with a Vo2Max setting. I was interested in the Polar Ft4 or polar Ft7 ...but if they're not accurate then they're not worth it, right?

advice please

I'm waiting for an informed answer as well. I don't think I have that part set up on mine, but it still seems accurate. It also reminds me that I have to update my weight info because I've lost weight since getting it.

Having a HRM capable of setting your V02Max just allows for a more accurate settings as well as calories burned. I went with the Polar FT60, this one does the fitness test that figures your V02Max but it can also be set manually. Plus it comes with a training program built in and is upgradeable by adding a foot pod and GPS... Got mine off: http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/ft60.html
The Ft4 and Ft7 are both good HRM they just don't have the V02Max or upgradeable with GPS.......

Finally...a response. thank you. Can someone briefly explain what VO2Max is? maybe in just a few words?

VO2 max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense or maximal exercise. It is measured as "milliliters of oxygen used in one minute per kilogram of body weight."

This measurement is generally considered the best indicator of an individuals cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. Theoretically, the more oxygen you can use during high level exercise, the more ATP (energy) you can produce.
