I'm a fan of the series, although I still have to watch this latest one. Way too much on the Sky+ but hope to be up to date by tomorrow night.

The problem with this show and the versions around the world is the show is very very misleading. I read an interview with a contestant on one of the shows and he said the same thing. He said an average day was

Get up and in the gym for an hour then breakfast. Everyone was exhausted so they would all go back to bed or often doze off for an hour or so on the sofa. They would then hit the gym again and have lunch and then collapse exhausted and sleep. a few hours later they would be back in the gym doing another work out then eat and collapse and sleep again.
Things would change when there were filming of weigh-ins and tasks etc. When they weren't filming they were shattered and slept a lot.
They were doing more exercise than in reality most people can do. The people at home watch the show, feel inspired to lose weight thinking, if they can do it (and he/she is bigger than me) then I can do it. No you can't! Log term you can but don't think you will get similar results. For the period they are in the house they live, eat, sleep dieting and exercise. They don't have family distractions.
People at home have jobs, looking after the kids, they are buying their own food on their budgets, not having a TV company buying their food. They have to "fit in" exercise when they get a moment.
Usually what happens is when a contestant leaves the house they struggle and put on weight. It's not because they start eating bad food but because they are back in their old lifestyles, work, looking after kids, doing the school run etc. They've gone from exercising 4-6 hours a day to an hour to two hours a day if they are lucky. Some can't even get an hour a day in and are exercising an hour every other day when they can. Most don't even have a personal trainer.
The metabolism that has been on constant mega-burn suddenly finds it's doing less and getting fuelled less and so the slows down and the weightloss eases up and it gets harder to pull regular good numbers.

He said that the one criticism he has of the show is they don't make it clear that people at home can't do what the contestants do because they aren't concentrating only on diet and exercise in their lives 24/7.

I have no doubt that you will lose the weight, it just probably won't be as quickly as they do on that show. Can you encorporate exercise into spending time with your family? going for walks or to the park together. Perhaps swimming? If used properly children can actually be a great tool for weight loss. Congratulatuions on the birth of your newest daughter. :flowerforyou:

She could be difficult to work around because of the demands of feeding, changing and generally being so young. The six year old though is another matter. If you can find some form of sport or exercise that you two can do together not only will you lose weight and keep her fit and healthy you'll have some fabulous mother, daughter bonding time.

A sport that is a game rather than exercise in general isreally good as she will love tha she can beat you (even if you throw the occasional game) and thus keep her interested. If she were to keep losing she would get disheartened. Something like badmington, swingball (if they still make it) or a dancing game on the Wii/Xbox would be good. All three you could play whilst the younger daughter is within sight of you so safe and no cost for a babysitter.
