How accurate are MFP exercise calories?

I generally try to eat back most of my exercise calories, but now am starting to wonder if it overestimates calories burned.
When I use a machine at the gym that has its own counter, i tend to use that instead, and it's usually a bit lower than MFP's.

But, today I compared MFP with another website activity calculator: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calories_burned.htm
and was surprised at how much lower this one is.

Does MFP calculate exercise calories based on your current weight/gender/etc., or just take averages? How accurate are they?

??

Thx.

Yes, It takes your weight and how fast you were walking/running and estimates approx. how many calories you burned. I've found mine to be pretty accurate. I think in general if your on a treadmill you are going to burn fewer than actually walking/running on ground where you are actually pushing your self forward as to a treadmill band moves to help you move forward.

Does this make sense? I'm trying my best to describe it. haha
