I've never been a runner but it's something I would like to add to my life. I would love to hear the experiences with this program of people who actually did go from non runner status to the 5K accomplishment. Thanks!

There are some accounts in the C25K support thread I posted here yestereday.

Personally, I did this 8 years ago and am just back now to re-do it. I was 220 odd lbs and decided it would be part of my weight loss / get fit programme. I didn't have much money or time and thought it'd be flexible - which it was. I went running with a friend in the dark - I couldn't manage the 60 seconds they suggested so made up my own intervals of 30 sec run 60 sec walk and did this for a couple of weeks before changing to 45 sec run and 60 sec walk..then started the programme properly. It worked a treat - I managed to do a 5k in the height of summer with a cruel hill in it! lol I had lost a little weight but not that much.

I chose to make riding my primary exercise and due to time restrictions I stopped running. I regret that now but I know the reasons were genuine.

I'm back at it to support my DD - and now I know how hard it is to start running even when you're active in other ways I am going to continue to keep running going, even if it's just short distances.

I got to the point before where I could happily run for an hour - and enjoy it! Seemed crazy to think I'd ever enjoy running when I started. I should say I'm a slow runner - there is a phrase called a 'penguin' and some great articles out there supporting efforts even if slow efforts! lol
Oh and I remember being scared about the intervals increasing before - I'm a bit worried now, but it does happen and your body manages! Try and keep in mind marathon runners rarely 'run' a marathon distance in their training schedule - they run a certain distance then allow the fact tha the 'buzz' will get you through the rest. :)

Hope you take the plunge - come along to the support thread if you fancy nattering about it as you go along.
