Just a little help needed, I work in a hospital as a healthcare assistant and spend mot of my 8 hour shift on my feet (minus 30 minute break), obviously im not constantly walking because if you're doing anything with a patient ur typically standing at their bedside but running around answering buzzers can fill a lot fo the day especially on the late shift.
this is my first day on here and i didnt no what to put so put that i do 3 hours slow walking as i thought through 7 and half hours i would probably clock this up but the calories seem really high (697), what do ppl think?
also i do a lot of manual handling such as taking patients weight and rolling them/turning them and u can work a proper sweat doing it so what can i put that under?
i dont want to over estimate what i do so wud appreciate the help.
thanks guys

You need to account for your work in your activity setting. I would choose "active" and then only count exercise when you actually workout.0

Don't record it those kinds of increased daily activity. Those are all gentle enough to pull from fat reserves for energy, and don't need to be refed.
Count yourself lucky, most folks daily activity is very minor when they want to lose weight.
Just confirm you have NOT set your weight loss goal so aggressive that the goal calories is less than your suggested healthy BMR.
Goal calories should be ABOVE your BMR by 50-100. You are in medical field, and should know precisely what BMR is.
Your deficit should come from maintenance calories, not your BMR calories.
If you do specific workouts, then you have the right idea to record those in MFP and eat back 90% of those calories.0 -
thanks, iv adjusted my calorie goal to a litle under my bmr, prob wont eat my exercise calories, hate doing that lol. I always think you might as well not do the exercise and not eat the extra lol (for weight loss purposes, and by no means am i right but this is my thinking, doesnt help for fitness tho)0

So doing the math then, you do realize that your body requires x for basic body functions, if it doesn't get it it will just slow the metabolism down.
If you eat x you are fine.
If you now subtract y exercise calories burned, you are causing your body the exact same reaction. Keep it up for short period of time, and your new BMR will now be x-y.
Guess what, weight loss stalls after a time. Now what?
Eat x-2y. Eat 1/2x-y.
Guess what your body will be more than willing to do?
Just remember when you check back in 3-6 months, instead of creating another topic that has been covered ad-naeseum, just search for topic "weight loss stall stop". Which you could do now to find out what will happen.0
