Marathon-ers and Half Marathon-ers Advice please!!

So I'm considering trying to complete a half marathon this year in the beginning of July. I have participated in soccer and general running off and on for the last 5 years or so, but definitely have a serious love-hate relationship with running. I've never trained for any sort of race before, and don't know if expecting a half marathon by July is even realistic...... right now I have about an 8 min mile, but no stamina. I can usually run 2.5 miles in 23-25 minutes, and that's outside on a trail. I am just looking for any training tips and advice, stories of your own runs, and really if I'm expecting too much from myself

    You have time to train for sure. I follow the hal higdons 1/2 marathon novice training schedule. I am training now for my second half.

    I would not try to push yourself pace wise too hard why training, you do not want to get a injury why training. Save all that for the race. Good Luck

    I'd recommend doing at least a 10k race before doing a half.
