Saggy belly/Mother's apron...

I have developed a saggy belly aka mother's apron from my years of weight gain and having two children. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has had this "problem" and was able to correct it with diet and excercise? I'm terrified that my stomach is too far gone for natural repair and I will end up having to have surgery to achieve the results I want.
