I've been using myp now since Jan 1st. The last two weeks I've only lost around .5 That seems discouraging to me. I've been good to track my food and stay under my calories. Some days I am WAY under my limit, My limit was 1660 so I'm thinking of cutting it down. I don't like seeing only ounces lost on the scale. Anybody else having similar experiences? Any advice?

Are you exercising as well? I started Jan. 5 and I have lost just over ten lbs so far. I am doing alot more exercisingthan before. In regards toyour caloric intake you don't want to cut it down any further because MFP already started you at a 500 calorie deficit and if you cut out too much you are doing more harm than good. Be patient it will come. Just make healthy choices, exercise more and talk to your friends on MFP they are a great support because we all know what you are going through.

It is not even a month. How long did it take you to gain the weight.

Here is what I do, and it works.
In general I do both cardio and resistance exercise. Both will help - make sure you are exercising.

I set calories to account for my activity level, exercises and other variables, and am losing a half a pound per week.
If your input is right, all will be well.

    What are you doing?
  • I started Jan. 2nd and I have lost 14 lbs. with little exercise

I would think it all depends on how much weigh you want to loose. I joined a gym and work out 3-5 times per week. I think that might help you. I hope that you ENJOY your weight loss journey here.... :flowerforyou:

Your first month you should be weighing and measuring everthing. 2 tbs of salad dressing, 4 oz chicken, 2 oz pasta, etc. Thats the best time to realize exaclty what you thought was a portion, and what a portion is. If you are not doing that, then start. That was a real wakeup call for me realizing what a "serving" actually is. And since presumably we wont all log all of our food forever.......learning what a portion is and training yourself will serve you well in the future. If you aren't losing weight, then you are eating too much.........

Just keep at it. You'll see results. I'd be careful of always being under your calories, and very careful if a lot of times you are way under. Long story short, I was (UNINTENTIONALLY) over exercising and undereating, and could not lose any weight. My body was keeping everything I ate because it thought I was starving myself. You probably know this, and don't want to heat it, but slow and steady does win the race. You'll get there. Don't give up!

Your tracker says you lost 10 pounds , that's a great achievement.

I started on Jan 5 , and in my second week I lost nothing ,nada, not even .01 , I have been here a little more than 3 weeks and I have lost 14 pounds.

Hmm well one month isn't all that long. It takes a lot of work to lose weight so don't let the small losses (still a loss) discourage you.

Are you exercising also? If you are and you are eating less than your calorie goal, you may not be eating ENOUGH. Look through your profile and goals and make sure everything is set to the right amounts.

And just a thought, it's hard to really help evaluate what you're doing as we can't see your food diary.
  • maybe double-check your settings and the information you first put in to the mfp calculator...just in case it was entered wrong???
but generally, you just need to be patient...
exercising helps (if you aren't already doing so) plus go by how your clothing fits at first to take the stress away from numbers/scales...
    good luck
  • Go to settings and change your activity level to sedentary. Eat that amount and workout!

I started a little more than 4 weeks ago and i have lost 19Lb, and walking on the tredmill 4 times a week for 20min.
The key is staying under my calories loted for the day. I have a feeling its going to get real hard soon.

keep it up! slow and steady wins the race. settle in for the long haul of living a healthier lifestyle & it will pay off in ways beyond the scale (but the scale, too!).
