so, one of my besties has finished school and now is moving out of the country back to her home. So i'm extremely sad and happy ... Sad because i feel like i'm losing my bestie, and happy because she is moving on in her life to be journalist.
my problem is when sad or depressed all i want is to eat... so three days of bad have occured.... hoping to get back on the bandwagon tomorrow.. but its so hard right now...
What do you guys do when you're sad or depressed? Do you eat like me? How do you cope?

I'm sorry about your friend hon =/
I generally exercise when I'm upset or stressed. We all cope in our own ways, but try to develop new habits. Food is not happiness and eating does not cure pain. Try to find other productive uses of your time so you aren't turning to food for comfort. Turn to other friends to talk, go for a walk, work on homework, etc. Best of luck sweetheart, we're here if you need us0 -
I have always ate emotionally. What helps me is just finding other ways to deal with the emotions. Read a book,go exercise, take a walk etc0

Sorry your friends moving away that's never an easy thing to deal with. I too tend to eat when I'm sad or upset. Something that helps me is I know I'll feel worse about myself if i eat the things I shouldn't than whatever I may b dealing with at the moment.0

"Losing" a friend is never easy. I agree with the posts above - make time to spend with other friends, and try to go for a walk instead of eating. I would also add, that if you know you're prone to emotional eating, to have a glass of water when you feel the urge and avoid bringing those snacks you crave home - stock your shelves with healthy alternatives. If nothing else, it will help to reduce the temptation.0

I am the same way. I turn to food. I still do now but much less. I hope someday for food to not be the first thing I think about when I get upset. Best of luck to you - we are all here for you.0

Still log and then burn it. I have days that I eat my emotions away but when I do I know I have to exercise and I don't like exercising any more than i have to so I'm learning to deal with those emotions in a different way.0

Aww im sorry! Losing a BFF really SUCKS!
...and yes. i love ice cream when im sad. If only carrots could make people feel better! :P
Always keep in touch with her though! Moving has to be stressful for her too!0 -
I try not to eat - and for the last year I've been changing my habits and the very best thing for me has been running.
Find an exercise that you enjoy and do this instead of eating when you are unhappy. You get lots of benefits - not only are you helping your general health and fitness and there are extra calories burnt so you can build in a treat if you want it, but you get those feel-good endorphins running through your body too.0 -
Thanks for the the support... i'm logging it all but still... i'm going to hit up the gym hardcore tomorrow... it will be awesome....0
