okay this may be a noob question...but how do y'all feel about eating back calories you burn? is it a waste of time to do all that exercise just to eat more food? i know i'm building muscle and muscle burns calories faster even when you're at rest... but still! and does it slow your weight loss?

I feel great about eating them back! If my body has been working hard, then I like to provide it with extra fuel.

MFP uses a different method to calculate your daily calorie allowance to many other programs - most times you are eating them back within your recommended calories, but you just don't see this because you aren't logging exercise as well as food.

MFP has already given you a calorie deficit to lose weight, so by not eating those calories you are making the deficit much bigger.

Some people find this works well for them, others not so much - but in my opinion, there is no point in depriving myself of energy and nutrition if it's not necessary - and for me, it's not. I lost nearly 50 pounds last year and have kept it off for about 4 months now (and counting!).
