I use PVL Whey Gourmet Strawberry/banana and LOVE it! I am not working right now so I wanted something cheaper so I got a vanilla protein powder and just made one and it was chalky.
Has anyone had that problem and mixed it?
I also mixed it was 8oz of juice and 1/2 cup of strawberries and I dont even wanna drink it. I need your help cuz I have 2.2lbs of this stuff!
Thanks!

Haven't tried the powder but wanted to say HI!!!
:smooched: :happy:0 -
well you could go buy a Mixer made to mix powders....
http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3017359
P.S. Just hold your nose..... If you know its good for you... drink it0 -
I use my magic bullet to mix it, it is just the protein powder itself is chalky.
Chrissy: HIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Throw some fruit into it... maybe the fruit will over power the chalkyness lol0
-
you should try and take it back to the store and tell them its bad....
Always buy chocloate anything when trying something new.... Always better!0 -
Jackie: When I made it I put juice and 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries in it!
Im wondering if it is chalky because it is a soy isolate protein powder and I usually use a whey protein powder?
Thanks!0 -
Maybe remember that you're drinking it for purpose more than flavor. The better it is for you, typically the worst it tastes. I throw my low calorie, low carb, quite nasty vanilla protein powder in the blender with some fruit, ice and some fat free yogurt. But this also adds many calories and carbs, this is a great idea if you're using it for meal replacement. But if you're using it for true post work out recovery, mix it with water or skim milk in a shaker and shake it good! Close your eyes, hold your nose and chug it! :0)0

maybe fat free vanilla yogurt?0

Have you tried it in milk. I have found some that are terrible in water, but are actually quite good with milk, you can use lowfat or 2 % or anything that you would normally use.0

Thanks for all the tips!
I just really hope they work cuz with every sip I take of this stuff I feel like im going to get sick!0 -
Don't know if you like coffee but I grind a teaspoon of whole coffee beans in some of my shakes.0

I think I found the problem!!!!!!!
Like I said I usually use PVL Whey Gourmet Protein Powder and I had found one on a site that was just for women called Tight Curves so of course I got it.
Tight Curves was also chalky and it was a soy isolate protein powder so I guess the answer is soy isolate protein powder are chalky!!!!!
If you dont want a chalky protein powder stick to Whey!0 -
Isolate Protein is important also. Maybe you should try mixing your protein powders an see if that helps. Most of the powders I have are both whey and isolate.0

Well right now I am doing shots of my protein drink and chasing it with water just to get it down  :drinker:0

I drink soy isolate from GNC and it's fine. I blend it with 1/2 cup of frozen fruit (blueberries, strawberries, peaches, or a combination) and a cup of water and I love it. Sometimes I'll blend it with a high fiber cereal also and it reminds me of tempura ice cream.
Why are you using juice? Did you get the unflavored kind? I got banana flavored soy the first time around and I'm trying strawberry now (it's the only one they had in stock). I like the banana better, though I really want to try the vanilla and chocolate.
Whey builds muscle, soy burns fat .... whey makes you feel full and soy suppresses your appetite ... so there's a balance going on there when you have both in a day. Except I'm allergic to something in the whey so I'm only doing the soy.
I also second the coffee. I use a tsp of folger's coffee crystals if I'm having a sleepy day, though I can't do strait strawberry with that one .. I need to add some blueberry or peaches to neutralize it.0 -
ghanie: Thanks for the great info! I did get the vanilla flavor.
I used 8oz of Fuze Slenderize Blueberry/Raspberry juice and half cup of strawberries. Well I will just experiement and see what works!
Tomorrow Im going to try frozen berries and vanilla yogurt and see what happens!0 -
Frozen fruit is much better than fresh fruit. If you really want fresh fruit, add ice. I never tried yogurt, though I have used milk instead of water a few times. It's nice but I didn't want to have too much soy protein so I opted for water.
I never tried juice in my shakes and I never tried Fuze ever. Try making friends with soy first, then see if that juice can go with it, hehe.0
