Has anyone out there ever tried Weigh Down workshop? The principle is to eat only when you are hungry and stop at the first sign of fullness> Oh yeah, and no food is restricted. The idea is that you will be eating less calories.

I sort of did it several years ago. I wasn't able to go to the classes, which I think would have really helped. I don't remember if I lost much weight, but I wasn't wholeheartedly doing it. It was when I was a teenager and when I couldn't refuse a Snickers bar  but it did help me to only eat HALF of it rather than all of it. I do remember eating half of everything. I think I didn't lose weight because I was having trouble with my thyroid at the time. Some other ladies I worked with lost weight and looked great and were very happy and healthy. I think it's a great program, very inspirational! Let me know how it works out for you! :flowerforyou:

Thanks. I've tried it a few times, lost a few pounds, but never stuck with it. hat happens with just about every diet I've tried in the past year. I'm trying to find a way to lose that doesn't completely consume me, but works. South Beach can be good, but it gets really old after a while, and then I cheat.

I had some friends that did it and did really well with it. I think it worked well for them because they were a really religious to start with and they really followed the program to the T. I think if you do do it you need to go to the meetings to hold you accountable.

I can't do that ... a lot of eating is psychological. Some people say that when you feel hungry, it means you are dehydrated and that you should just be drinking water...etc, etc.

For me..when I am bored, I look around and I think of food...not meals but snacks, etc.

I would never be able to identify when i am actually hungry.

I know when I am hungry for my big meals because those are at designated times of the day...

What about the whole "low carb" thing? Are most of you eating low carb foods, or just sticking to the numbers recommended ont his site? (for ex. 200 or so grams of carbs)

I should be following the other numbers but I am jsut eating what I want as long as it follows the calories and I know what I shouldnt be eating... but judging from my journal, I have been under in the rest of the categories.

I eat low carb in the sense that I get most of my carbs from fruits and vegetables. I do eat grains but I only eat whole grain items, like pasta, bread or tortillas. and I try to stay away from sugar!

I usually eat less carbs and more protein then is on the chart, but from all I've read having more protein than recommended here is okay.

I think your best bet is to try to stick within your recommended calories and exercise.
