HRM Help!

I got a Polar FT7 for Christmas and have been using it since then. I feel like it's giving me really high estimates of calories burned. For example, today it said I burned 418 calories. I spent 30 minutes working with a trainer doing cardio and strength training circuits. My HR was around 150 - 160 for most of the session. Then I spent 15 minutes on the treadmill at a 3.7 mph pace, with my HR around 140 - 150. Should I go with the 418 calories? Reduce by 1/3? I'm trying to eat back exercise calories, so I want to make sure I'm not overestimating. Thanks!

That actually sounds right to me. I'm not an expert, but I just started using an FT7 during my 30DS workouts. It's very close to what MFP says for circuit training and I'm doing around 295 calories per the 30DS which is around 26 to 28 minutes total.

My average HR on my last workout was 161.

Sounds pretty spot on to me.

Anyone with the FT7 ever had it work for like the first 10 minutes of the workout and just quit?
I keep trying to use it on the treadmill, and it works for a short time, then it says check transmitter.
So far - I've reset per the manual and changed both batteries.

    Thoughts?

That sounds about how many calories I might burn in that heart rate zone for that long.

Have you put the strap through the washing machine lately? It might just need a good cleaning!

Do you wet the chest strap before you put it on? Have you thrown the strap in the washing machine? I'd try those things if you haven't before.

Thanks for the validation, everyone. I'll go with what it says.

And I agree that the calories burned sounds right for the OP.

I haven't tried it on my treadmill yet. I have heard that with older treadmills, despite the HRM being 'coded', it can interfere and not work right. I think I heard that with the FT4 specifically, not the FT7.
