Are we dealing with the Effects or Causes?
A recent panel discussion on a professional site I belong to was led by Jacqui Iwuof. See what some industry experts had to say.
Terri Rau Visalus Distributor • Hi there Jacqui;
I just responded to a discussion about how there seems to only be one way to help someone improve their health and I disagree.
I DO agree there are a lot of weight loss businesses, products and services, especially concentrated within these groups.
I think the short answer is whatever is working for an individual. There are definitely lots of people looking for information so they can make an informed decision. One size does not fit all.
All I recommend is that people look for something that is sustainable, and can be incorporated fairly easy into their lifestyle. There is no point in going on something if you inevitably have to stop and the weight returns.
Actually, I have 1 more recommendation.
We have been dealing with the EFFECT of many issues that have happened to us in our lives.
Society seems to allow us to forgo the discomfort of dealing with the CAUSE.
So the question isn't so much; what are we eating, but,
What's Eating Us??
Because excess weight is a symptom of something else going on in our lives, we at some point, need to address what that "something" is. Otherwise those 50 pounds of weight which are actually just baggage (rejection, abandonment, boredom, criticisms, low self-esteem, etc.) will find their way back through today's "triggers" until we find a way to: Acknowledge it, Feel It, Deal with It, and then HEAL!
Cheers,
Terri
Nanette Saucier • Hi Jacqui, Great question!
I released and kept off 100 pounds without any fad diet, products or pills! How did I do it?
1. A change in mindset
2. Support.
Yes, I exercised and ate healthy food and didn't overeat. But to really release the weight I had to do a lot of work on myself--you know the weight "between the ears." That is why I am now a life coach specializing in weight loss in a holistic manner. The whole person is what I care about. I can be that support you need so that together we can work through feelings, especially those that trigger emotional eating, those around body image, binging, the societal pressure to be thin, stress and much more.
