Favorite dishes...

I know I'm a little quirky about these things, but does anyone else have favorite coffee cups, plates, silverware, etc?

I have two favorite coffee cups. They're big and heavy so I can have a nice size cup of coffe that doesn't cool off too fast. Love them! I have a couple of plates that I avoid using because they don't fit in the dishwasher well, and I usually end up hand-washing them... lazy I know. We have two sets of silverware. One is a heavy set that is fairly nice quality, and the other was a gift. The one that was a gift is fairly light weight, and I don't like the way they feel to hold them or in my mouth. I feel like I enjoy what I'm eating/drinking more when it's with the dishes I prefer. Maybe I'm just strange. lol

I know what you mean. I babysat in college and the wife bought new dishes so she gave me her old ones. They were a really nice stoneware set. Between those and the plastic/melmac dishes hubby and I had during our college days that made up our set until 2010 when we were both in our 40s and WELL out of school. We lived in Germany at the time and made a trip to Poland to visit a friend. I bought a few mugs and some misc pieces of Polish Pottery. I got hooked. Before we left Germany to move back to the states in Oct 2010 I had sold all my stoneware dishes and bought an entire service for 10 in Polish Pottery. I LOVE it! We got the extra big coffee mugs too. I still have the melmac dishes but those are more for is we have extra kids in the house. I'm pretty protective of my Polish ottery. :laugh:

As for silverware, I'll probably pick up a nice set when our kids move out and just give them our old stuff. It's perfectly fine but a mish mash of some nice pieces, some that were swiped from the dining commons in college, and some middle of the road stuff. I do try to get a few specific pieces when I eat. Hubby and the boys couldn't care less but, like you, I like the way certain ones feel more than others.

not at all.. I have 2 coffee mugs that nobody is allowed to use....lol I totally understand how you feel about your silverware...lol I love mine and can't stand the lightweight cheap ones. Don't even get me started on my blanket
