Spartan Race Work Regime Reccomendations

I'm planning on running an up coming Spartan Sprint in my town, it's a 5km obstacle course/mudder endurance race. I've never run one before, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. I have 17-18 weeks to get in the best condition I can for the race.

I would appreciate some ideas for a workout regime to prepare me for the race. Thanks.

    Have not done one yet - Signed up for 5 MAY in Colorado. If you sign up on the Spartan Race website you can get daily workouts for the race. They are pretty intense but I guess the race is as well.

    FYI - today's is an easy one - pick a number (3-6) and for one hour do that number of push ups evey minute. Seems easy. I started it with 3 for the first 40 minutes and then went to 5 each minute. I was beat by the end of the hour.
