Popcorn

So, this may be a silly question but it bothers me whenever I see it.

We just bought some sea salt and vinegar popcorn and I LOVE it. However, the calories on the label are for unpopped and popped. For unpopped it's way higher like 150 cals and for 1 cup of popped it's only like 35 calories or something like that. Why would they put the unpopped cals on there? I mean, you pop the popcorn don't you? Am I thinking about this all wrong?

Lastly, the front of the box advertises that one serving is only 150 calories, when technically wouldn't one serving really be 35? I would rather put that on the box then 150 cals.

Like I said, silly question. Maybe I am reading this wrong but I just wanted to get it out there.

BUT how many cups does the finished product create? Probably WAY more than 1 cup.

I hate how popcorn nutrition facts are labeled, and I hate when it gets crammed between my teeth, so I have just said goodbye to popcorn in general.

Ive noticed that too and always wondered why they have the unpopped calories... who eats it unpopped? But maybe if you make the "one cup" unpopped you can eat the who popped amount and know how many calories instead of measuring it after it is popped? I buy it in a bag so its not like i can seperate it before lol.

They probably have to put the info for unpopped kernels as well because you could eat them if you wanted to. I'm sure there's someone who does.

A serving is 150 calories because nobody is going to eat just one cup of popcorn. You'd get like 12 pieces.

Similar to pasta, it depends on when you measure. If you measure out one cup of popcorn, then pop it and eat it, you will be consuming a lot more popcorn that if you popped it first, then measured out a cup of popped popcorn.

I tend to just go by whatever percentage of the total I'm eating. Of course, that relies on the total servings on the label to be accurate, which is worth looking into. As it turns out the "about" portion of "about 7 servings" factors into things way more than I think it should.
