~The No-Poo Method~

I did baking soda / white vinegar for about half a year while I was growing out my hair, but even though my hair was super soft and clean, it aggravated my skin so badly that I had to stop (my skin is super sensitive. ACV was a bit better, but not much). Now I do it only once every couple weeks and use cone-free conditioner + gentle shampoo the other times I wash. I generally do a 3-day cycle: day 1 = full wash + condition, then day 2 = nothing, then day 3 = lightly wash roots only, then start again. Baking soda + ACV if I'm getting too much build up or want extra fluffy, soft hair for the day.0

This thread isn't what I thought it was going to be about.
 Same! What a sham!
But while we're on this topic...It's pretty simple...if you want a shampoo that doesn't strip the natural oils from your hair, buy shampoos that does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate
Yep! Nature's Gate is my shampoo of choice (others, like Pantene and Dove started giving me unbearable headaches, so I did some research and came to that), best thing ever.0 -
My mom uses flat beer in her hair.. She loves it .. I've never tried it .. anyone else?0

For all those who use this method,
specifically what conditioner do you use? Brand names? Also gel? And hairspray? I bought some Marrakesh X as my leave in treatment and detangler to replace my John Frieda serum.
I would like to have brand names to try when I go to the store...0 -
I co-wash with Sauve coconut and cream (?). Then rinse. Then condition with Garnier Triple whatever it's called. Rinse. Then use conditioner (as a leave in but I don't specifically use a leave-in...I actually use rhe Sauve again) and gel (Herbal Essence Totally Twisted) while my hair is wet. Then air dry. I co-wash every other day. Haven't used an actual shampoo in over two years. Made my hair totally different and much curlier. I had that weird wave/curl combo hair.
Oh it helps majorly with frizz. I live in a high humidity State. Just got to wash your scalp well wishing your finger tips and a circular motion. And the products I use are low sulfate and low silicone. You can't wash particularly well with low sulfate if your styling products are high in silicone based agents.0 -
I haven't used shampoo in years now. I use wen conditioning cleanser in fig and sixthirteen. My hair is really curly and shampoo dries it out.0
