I am 23 weigh 255lbs. I haven't weighed under 200lbs since I was 14. For the past several years, I have gotten my period a handful of times, maybe once a year. I have a goal to lose 100lbs in order to be healthy, fit, and to conceive a child with my soon to be Husband. He is wonderful and supportive in every way one could imagine. He cares so much about my health not only for me but for our family. All I want in this world is to be healthy and raise a happy healthy family with my Husband.

If anyone has stories similar to mine or if anyone was able to become pregnant after a significant weight loss, please share! It would give me so much comfort to know that there are other people with stories to motivate and inspire me :)

    Ilana,

I share a similar story. Most of my adult life I weighed between 230 to 240. I got my period at age 13 and only had my period a handful of times. When I was 23 I was diagnosed with PCOS, and was told by my doctor that as I lose weight they will disappear and pregnancy will happen. Once I lost 10% (in my 30's) of my body weight my period was a monthly occurrence, and in 2010 I gave birth to my first baby boy at the age of 34. I was not even trying, as I thought a child would never be in my future. I hope my story gives you hope and keeps you motivated. I did have a rough pregnancy as I became diabetic and had to inject myself with insulin twice a day, however I had a healthy baby boy. OF course losing more weight can help you have a healthier pregnancy. You are still young and you have plenty of time to be a mother.

I'm not an expert on this by any stretch of the imagination but have you looked into PCOS? It causes weight gain, irregular periods and difficulty conceiving. The weight could be another symptom of the cause, rather than the cause itself.

ETA Oops, evidently as I was typing, someone more knowledgeable than myself was answering. Good luck!

My husband and I are in the same boat. I started at 210, regular periods, but no baby after a year of trying. My doctor wants me under 170 before we do any more tests.

Good luck to you! Focus on you first! Becoming a mother is amazing motivation, just be patient and do this the right way: slow and steady.
