Do you connect more people on this site then general local d

This probably more of a question for those with a lot to lose. I like the people on my friends list on mfp. I feel closer to them then most people I meet in general, even more so then general dating. I think there is something about the personal information you share on MFP. You are kind of highlighting the not so good stuff about yourself and saying, "yeah .. this is me .. deal with it". I am not sure if I find anything sexier then that kind of honesty.

I am just wondering if anyone has expierenced this? and if so, what is your take on it?

I agree with you. This is totally honesty with people you may never lay eyes on. But funny thing is we all get an intimate look at each others lives. So in a strange but good way we all really care about each other. Good friends are key to life.
  • Yeah, I do feel that way about MFP. I love how honest people are. I can connect with them...talk about things I do not talk about with people I know in real life. I feel comfortable with my friends. I dont even get on Facebook, it is just full of drama and if you post how you REALLY feel, rumors spread like wildfires. I prefer MFP! :)

I may not know all my friends names on here, how many kids they have or what they do for a living, but I can tell you what they are eating, if they are working out or not and how much weight they've lost! I love my friends on here. When I need encouragement or a little push with working out, this is where I come. My friends in "real life" tell me I'm doing great but they don want to hear that I just did 30 burpees or did an 1/4 mile lunges with a 12 pound medicine ball. My friends here get it and where I'm at in my life!

I am very attached to my MFP peeps, especially the ones who have been around a long time and seen me through my ups and downs. I think they understand this journey unlike the people in my real life do.

I'm super attached to my MFP friends <3 I love how honest and blunt they are about absolutely everything. A lot of people will not be like that with you!

I feel the same I love my pals they are a support system, they make me laugh, cry' learn' and climb to a higher level. In real life most people aren't serious about weight loss or they want to exaggerate and compete, I hate that

I don't like all that social media stuff, but MFP is different - we have to support each other, it's good

I was just talking to an MFP pal about this last night. We are all here fighting a similar battle and we can be open and honest about our screw ups because chances are someone else made them too. And the support is genuine and true. I post a lot of my big milestones on FB and I get comments and such. But undoubtedly my email blows up and people want to critique how I did it, what my secret is, etc.... they dont get it like you guys do.

I definitely have made some amazing friends on here. Some I have real plans to meet when I get back east this spring. Yay! Some of them I feel like I can talk to about anything. They get my life as it is now, and the things I am learning. They understand the struggle to change how I think, feel and react to life so that I dont gain weight back. And its nice to hear them talk about the same things, and their feedback helps. This time, this loss, this process, it feels right because of my friends on MFP. They encourage and support and nag and argue as needed.
  • I absolutely adore my MFP friends!
