PCOS diagnosed more than 10 years ago!

My biggest tip is to not give up. And take your medication if you're insulin resistant!

p.s. Anyone feel free to add me!

I didn't manage any loss until I combined low-carb (for the pcos) with gluten-free (for the coeliac) but am losing now, if slowly. Feel free to add me!

My tip? If you are insulin resistant, work with your doctor while taking your metformin and keep adjusting the doses until you start losing properly. Also, keep in mind that low carb works best for people with PCOS and insulin resistance. Also cut out as much added sugar as you can. and some people will even go as far as saying you should cut out the artificial sugars (splenda, etc) and only use stuff like stevia.

Another thing I found has helped tremendously in the last while was cutting soy out of my diet. Soy is a phyto-estrogen and can really play havoc with your hormones.... Which are already wonky because of the PCOS.

Feel free to add me as a friend. I have PCOS and IR and have been really dedicated to my lifestyle change. A lot of ppl I have friended on here are ppl with PCOS and it's wonderful to have others going through the same thing to keep me motivated and it helps because they understand what I am going through.

    Good luck!!

I don't have PCOS, but if I did and wanted to lose weight, I'd find a doctor I'm really comfortable to talk to regularly for help.

I think low carb /low GI is the way to go. I don't think I am in sulin resisitant, I might go to the doctors to find out. I have been on metformin in the past to help me conceive, but I have my two boys now and don't have any meds. I lost the 20kg by myself, just eating less and exercising more, and now I have rejoined MFP to help over the last hurdle to lose another 10kg over the next 6-12 months...Thanks for advice people!! Good luck to those trying to conceive, I know how hard it can be!!
