What dress pants for Women (or men) don't fade easily?

Hi, All,

I need to know what are your "go to" dress pants that you purchase for work that will not fade as easily? I've been postponing purchasing new work clothes until I was at a comfortable size. Now, I am. I used to buy Apt. 9 pants from Kohls, but noticed they will fade after 2 washes and look very sloppy.

Last weekend, I bought 2 pairs from Express for $160 (!) and 4 pairs from New York & Company for $160. Should I take the Express pants back? Are they worth it? Is it mostly detergent that will keep clothes looking nice? I've noticed that Old Navy pants do pretty good. Maybe I should go back to purchasing those.

What are good work shoes too? I need to buy some nicer shoes too.. all over I need to start looking nicer at work! It's good to feel comfortable in your own skin!
