What do you think living conditions are like in prisons today, too harsh?
Absolutley not, from the exstensive research i have been carrying out, prison life seems almost like a walk in the park for prisoners in the UK

Just a recommendation...if you are trying to host an opinion survey, it's probably best that you don't try to sway the vote with your thoughts on the subject.

Also, the living conditions in prisons surely differ by locality. To wit, I'd much rather spend life in an English or American prison than a Peruvian or a Thai dungeon.

Too harsh?? Not here in Massachusetts. These people should get the bare minimum to live on. And the worse the crime the less you get!

If only that were true. Honestly, I would give them slightly less than what they need to live on as by commiting a crime against another person you throw your human rights.

See Joe Arpaio and his prisons. He is constantly picketed and accused of inhumane conditions. From what I gather, besides Supermax prisons, his prisons are about as bleak as it gets.
Now of course here in MN, there is a women's prison that has a hedge...no, not wall or fence...a hedge that guards the prison.

Even if the conditions are relatively pleasant, it is still prison. A glided cage is still a cage. Imprisonment is the punishment. It doesn't have to be a complete hellhole.

I would agree with that for non-violent crimes. I sympathy drops drastically after that.

Canada, Ontario seems to be pretty good lol (havent been in but used to deliver goods to the warehouse) inmates have a good nutirtion plan on most part, they have access to protein bars, protein shakes, creatine, and all the other supplements... the common testostrone levels are still just like the olden days lol fights, riots, stabbings...... riot broke out about 3 months ago at High security prison here and our main hospital was completely filled with inmates with broken arms, legs, ribs, stab wounds, messed up faces, deff not the place i would want to be..

Estonia same thing on nutirtion n fights but the inmates cells are really nice! with right amount of money you can have anything you want in there.. tv, movies, video games, computer.. everything in ur cell.. its retarded... when they first "renewed" the prisons there and people heard about how good the quality supposibly is; hobos were purposly commiting crimes to get in there...

Just to be clear, the DOC wants there to be a fence. The neighbors, who live next door to the only women's prison in the state, so therefore the highest security inmates are there as well as the check forgers don't want the fence because then it will look like they "live next to a prison". I'm not sure that's a reflection on the way prisons are run or the strange thinking that is endemic among suburban dwellers.
