im super confused. i have a new balance heart rate monitor with a chest strap and and ive had it for a year now. its always worked great and calculated my heart rate fine. well, the past few times ive worn it my calories burned are SUPER low. so either im not working as hard (i dont think this is it because i can literally feel my heart beating out of my chest) or something is up with the heart rate monitor. anyone have any suggestions? or can anyone explain to me about heart rates/working heart rate etc?

I'm not familiar with that brand of HRMs. I would suggest that you make sure all your data in the device is accurate: Height, weight, age, etc...

If it has a feaure to test your heart condition during a warm up, do that before you get into your exercise. Dont' use the default settings if you can avoid it.

It could be batteries need changing (easy to replace) or if the monitors are metallic, check for corrosion (White & green).

I have a New Balance as well - a couple of weeks ago I noticed it was giving odd readings, or not reading at all. During my warmup it showed my heart rate at 200, then cut out and wouldn't read. I changed the battery in the chest strap and that took care of the problem. Hope that's all it is for yours too! I hate being without my HRM!
