So doing certain exercises, especially yoga makes me knees creak, is it okay to do these exercises or do you think I should be doing something else until they are stronger?

do they hurt or just creak?

knees are a bummer to get hurt....creaking isnt bad but pain means slow it down

tension is ok,,,,but especially with knees,,,,,listen to your body closely...I have a bad knee from a sking fall and I never want to have that again,,,,,,yoga shouldnt be too hard on the knee but dont over do it ....build up to any knee involved pose slowly

Do you stretch out first? I have a really bad knee and if I don't stretch I usually end up in pain at the end.

Ugh...I had a motorcycle accident almost two years ago and have had a ganglion cyst in my left knee ever since and I can feel it almost always during exercising. Yoga creates tension especially, so I take it easy and listen to my body. Just don't over stress it...take it easy and with time your knees will get stronger. Yoga should actually help with that. Good Luck!:flowerforyou:

Your yoga instructor should be able to recommend modifications for poses that you have trouble with. Personally, I think yoga should be a challenge and you should feel tension but I don't think it should ever hurt. Good luck.

you might want to try some glucosamine & chondroitin supplements, if you're feeling sort of stiff. I was on them for a while and they helped a lot... they aren't' cheap, though.

a friend of mine who is about 40-50 pounds overweight took these and said they are helping him...said he got them at costco...might be worth a try

True, why not try it? If it works, great. Keep in mind, it might take a few days to a couple weeks to feel results, depending on your body. It only took me 3 days to notice a difference, but things got better after being on the supps for about a week-10 days. I ran out about a month ago, though... and haven't bought more... but I need to.
  • you mentioned some connection between wearing old heels and your knees bothering you. I'd pay attention to that and avoid those heels and see what happens
