Hi everyone. I used to be a competitive swimmer (in my long ago youth!) and have recently got back into it. I usually swim between 2 and 2.5km each session, and a mix of freestyle, backstroke and breastroke (with maybe two laps of butterfly)
Today I did 2km (1.25miles) in 36 minutes and wondered if that is considered moderate or vgorous when it comes to entering it on MFP (I dont have a HRM)

Tha would be vigorous for me but I'm a pokey swimmer. One mile takes me 36 minutes and I record that as light/moderate. I need to get back in the pool!0

I'd say moderate, unless you are sprinting. As a former Swimmer you know how to sprint ^^
At then end of it, how out of breath have you been? Unable to have any conversation? (vigorous) or maybe still able to hold some kind of conversation (yeah, put aside that your head is under water the most of the time then its moderate)
As a former swimmer I always would look at my swimming as moderate.0 -
I stopped three times to check what my daughter was up to (also swimming) and each time my heart rate was about 130 which is about 73% of max. Going by clock on wall.0
