Hello...Is a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 23 OK?...Just curious...took the test based on height and weight...
Any thoughts on the most efficient way to accurately measure BMI without spending a lot of money? Thanks!

You can have a "healthy" BMI, but still be unfit. Best test is a body fat % test. Most acurate is at teh doctor, but that is expensive. To get a good idea, you can get tested at a gym.

That's all BMI is Height and Weight. Here is page that will calculate it for you and it has a chart with the ranges - http://www.bmi-calculator.net/

  • There are a lot of BMI calculators online. All that it takes into consideration is your height and weight. 25-30 = overweight, 30+ = obese. (Of course someone who is a bodybuilder might have a higher BMI but is not necessarily overweight.) Any way you look at it, 23 is just fine!

According to a BMI Calculator website, if you're normal weight, your BMI should be between 18.5 and 24.9.

    BMI Categories:
    •Underweight = <18.5
    •Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
    •Overweight = 25–29.9
    •Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

  • Your BMI seems excellent. It should be in the range of 18 to 25 with a typical target of 22. You don't need any fancy equipment to measure it as it's just a calculation To calculate your BMI take your weight in kg (pounds/2.205) and divide it by the square of your height in metres (divide inches by 39.37). BMI is just an indication of what your weight should be for a given height on the average person.
