Activity Tracking Devices ...
Jawbone UP, Nike FuelBand, Fitbit Ultra, Bodymedia FIT Core .. they all pretty much work the same way.
They have accelerometers that measure movements, and using various algorithms, it converts those movements into meaningful data such as walking .. running .. skipping rope .. sleeping ... Unfortunately the power of these devices is not in their sensors - its in the software that makes use of the sensors.
I've been pouring over the details of various ones.. I don't think there is one on the market that appeals to me right now. The underlying question I have is what do they actually give me? I keep track of my exercise already here on MFP .. so what more can I garner from a device doing it?
The Smart Sleep Alarm sounds really nice .. I could go for that .. but the more I read, the more I see that its not that good.
Why would anyone want to buy these?
