Using weights while walking/cycling

So how about I gave up my gym membership because I very rarely went anymore and when I did go they were so dang packed it wasn't worth the time and energy. Now that I no longer attend a gym I am needing some exercises I can do at home. I am currenly waiting on my heart rate monitor to come and when it does I am thinking about walking around the place were I live (that and riding a bike) because there are alot of hills around here. Anyways should I get some leg weights or arm weights and carry them around when I am walking???? The reason I ask is because that will probably be the only time I will left weights.

using ankle/wrist weights for walking/running around is a accident waiting to happen. The added stress you will be putting your joints through is much less beneficial than the reward. If you want to do cardio, do cardio, if you want to lift, then lift. Unless you know a lot about standard lifting and Metabolic Conditioning, you shouldn't mix your cardio and weight lifting.0

get a comfortable backpack and start with adding 5 pounds..then add as you get stronger...if you have lost a signifcant amount of weight...(plus 20 pounds) you will be amazed how much weight that is to carry around when you put it in a backpack and walk/hike
Do not use ankle weights.0
