For all the runners out there, I'm interested in hearing what your total January mileage was ? I'm also interested in hearing from anyone living in an area that experiences a true "winter". Do you still run outside regardless of the snow, wind, and cold, or do you only run indoors in the winter months. Or do you utilize a combination of the two, as I do ?

My final numbers for January are follows...

147 total miles (237k)

65% outdoor running, 35% indoor, on a treadmill.

Anyone else ?

January mileage was 121. I couldn't care less about the cold, but I hate the dark, so about 50% of those miles are indoors. I work from 6:45 am - 5 or later pm most week-days, so the mill gets a lot of use in the winter.

I actually enjoy running in the dark. That way I can't see how slow I'm going lol !!!

Ok-174.18 total miles. 47.18 miles running, all outside except for 4 miles indoors. 127 bike miles, all spin.:drinker: Didn't start running until the 14th because of a hip issue i was trying to fix with ice and rest.

87 all outside, some literally running in the snow, and as cold as single digit temps. I missed 2 runs (including one long one) due to illness or I'd have been over 100.

January: 123 miles. After my crazy distances for all of last year, I started out with a little bit of a break. My week day short runs are on a treadmill at the gym, and my weekend long runs are outdoors in the ice and snow. I'm looking forward to getting rid of this lower back pain that has cut my long runs short recently.
  • I ran 168.22 miles in 23 days, all outside in either Vibram KSO's or Vibram Bikila's.

Looking back at the previous January (2011), I ran 160.74 miles in 23 days too.

February should be interesting, as I ran 174.3 miles in 21 days for 2011. I do gain an extra day for 2012, but that doesn't mean that I will run that extra day.
