What is the intention of 30 Day Shred?

I just kind of assumed that you were intended to do it every day for 30 days, 10 days at each level (unless you were more fit to start and could start at a higher level). But then I've seen a couple people online reference a podcast Jillian did saying she never intended it to be done every day. I would keep doing it every day anyway, except last night on day 9, my knees were killing me. I think I'm stressing them too much with all the jumping now that I'm not doing any modifications other than girly push ups.
But I also don't want an excuse to be lazy. I think I'm going to do the treadmill tonight for a break and hopefully avoid actually injuring my knees. But, I'd love to see how Jillian truly envisioned this workout going but can't seem to find anything from her specifically.
