So.... she will be having a baby soon? Fantastic! She should focus on getting breastfeeding off to a great start for the first six weeks....
After that, she should add between 300-500-ish calories a day to her diet. The most that breastfeeding women are recommended to lose in a week is 1 lb. More weight loss than that, and it could affect her milk supply.
In MFP, there is a way to add breastfeeding calories in as a food, to add calories back each day.
One of the best things she can do is to look up breastfeeding and weightloss on Kellymom and on La Leche League for information on how to lose weight while breastfeeding.0 -

Completely agree with this. She should add in 500 calories a day for exclusive breastfeeding. Also, she shouldn't try to calorie count or lose lots of weight until breastfeeding is well established - after about 6 weeks.0 -
Thanks Ladies:)0

This. Plus she should be taking in 8 cups of clear fluid on top of her regular diet as breastfeeding can be very dehydrating. She will also want to confer with her OBGYN about safe weight loss strategies during breastfeeding.0
