Its really starting to annoy me that everyones resoultion to everything is eat more. Someone will post a topic about a plateu or slight weight gain and there are some forum members who seem to have a script saved and they simply copy and paste.. Blah blah blah starvation mode, blah blah blah fuel your body, blah blah blah. It really feels like when you go to the doctor and you have a flu, they tell you its because youre fat.
I .. personally am not a believer in starvation mode, I am not at all qualified in this OR trying to say that anyones beliefs are wrong this is just my opinion.
People who have gastric bypass surgery / gastric banding surgery are on VERY restricted calories, (most eat less than any of us would on here) and excersise , they loose weight. I have a number of friends who have had surgery and have lost in excess of 100kgs ( 220lbs) and not experienced this imfamous starvation mode.
You do not see any over weight people in world vision advertisements, I assume they are the best example possible for starvation. ( i know that this is an extreme case but im trying to make a point)
If you constantly ate lettuce, all day every day, would your body still be in starvation mode because of how low the calorie intake eventhough you are constantly eating?
My logic says that whilst im sure there are pleanty of reasons to up your calories - (I would think it would be more to confuse the body from constantly having the same amount therefore making it adapt again, freeing you from your plateu) it should not be to "fuel" your body because of excersise.
Your body has all that fuel you WANT it to use (your excess weight) so why continually eat back all the calories youve burned. Im not advocating starving yourself completely because you have fuel there already. I just mean that if you are satisfied with your 1500 calroeis then work off 1100 of them, I dont think you need to be eating them back because your body will use the fuel it has there to replenish when you dont put enough in your mouth.
I know i will probably get lots of hate mail about this..... But surely someone else feels this way.

hmmm I can see what you're saying, but I've always viewed "starvation mode" differently. Sure, you could eat lettuce all day everyday, and you would lose weight. But the idea is that this would not be healthy for your body. Your body needs a certain amount of nutrients to function, and going below that is not good for you, even though it would make you lose weight faster.
Eating nothing would be the quickest way to lose weight...but there are obvious reasons as to why you should not do that.0
