If I eat 1200 calories a day i seem to maintain my weight or gain. If i eat way less I lose weight but kow it's unhealthy to eat so few calories. yesterday I cleaned out my junk room and burned 700 calories, and ate 1600 calories, yet gained three lbs this morning. really fustrated. don''t know if I should maintain at a 1200 calorie goal, still exercise, and wait and see what happens. or just drop it down. really in a rut. the more fustrated i get the more i want to give up.

Ok, first you need to track your sodium and see if you are eating too much salt and UP your water intake. Then, take a look at what kind of exercise you are doing. Are you doing aerobics or strength training? If you are really working your muscles, you will gain a little weight as your muscles grow, but in turn, that will start to burn more calories - so its a spike for a little while then you will start to lose again. Also, how many times a day do you eat? If you eat small meals and snacks in between, it will help your metabolism stay high.
Also, you might try turning to your doctor and getting some tests like thyroid tests, etc. Or perhaps you are on a medication that makes it difficult to lose weight. But my doctor told me he does not really consider it a plateau until it has been more than 6 weeks, so to be patient, keep working hard and eventually your body will conform to your commands0
