Quitting smoking and insomnia

I quit smoking 5 months ago (YAY me after 20 years) however since then I suffer from insomnia, I need help!!! I thought after the first month or so my sleep patterns would return to normal but no such luck. Suggestions???

    I quit most recently about 14 months ago. I don't think quitting and insomnia are linked at this point. Any chemical addiction problems you had should have been gone in a few days (max). After that, it is just dealing with the habit. I say that as fact - really should just say that such is my experience and consistent with what I know and have read.

    My suggestion would be to forget about how smoking might be a factor and just deal with the insomnia on its own. Do the exercises, relaxation techniques, etc., that are pretty standard. Talk to a doctor if you need to.

    I will say that when I can't sleep, I will often pray during that time. I'll pray about what I am thankful for, what I am worried about, things that are on my mind... That makes it time well spent in my opinion, whether I drop off to sleep or not. It helps me feel rested.

    Congrats on being smoke-free. I know it was hard.
