Can you share purchased songs across ipods?

My wife has an ipod nano and now I've started at the gym I want one too. We like much of the same music and she has already purchased hundreds of songs and albums. If I like the same song she has, is there a way to share it to my own ipod or would I have to purchase everything all over again (because that seems like a bit of a rip off to me)?
