Also, if I weigh myself tomorrow and I've lost weight (the weight of the blood), can I count that, or is that cheating?

Umm... Slight over the target is okay. Your body needs to make up for the blood loss. Have lots of Iron rich food.

And about the weight, no. Wait another day to get the actual weight. Otherwise, it sure is cheating

On the contrary, I don't think the girls go over the target during TOM.

I would suggest trying not to go over on calories. Drink more to replace the fluids, so you weight may be off for a day or two, but try to stick to the calories.

You are *allowed* to do whatever you damn well please. One day of going over your calories won't hurt your progress, especially if you're still under your maintenance calories. If you feel you need a little extra oomph after giving blood, go ahead. You've earned it.

I think it depends upon how much you weigh.... and how you feel. A couple of times after I've given blood I don't feel like I need anything extra... other than rest. The last two times, though, I've felt horrible after giving blood and needed a huge calorie uptick for the rest of the day/next am.
Like pp said, eat iron rich foods. Your body will thank you! Also, drink plenty of fluids. And take a day or two off of weighing yourself and don't exercise too hard.

Thank you for giving blood...... it's a wonderful thing and helps so many people.

Cheating - I'm planning on doing that last week of March to win a Biggest Loser contest at work though! Let's hope I wont be too low on iron that last week living off of protein shakes doing a 3-day mock shakeology cleanse ;)

I don’t see why you are allowed to eat more because of donating blood though so to answer your question/subject line, no.

If you are not feeling well and need the extra calories to fill up on healthy carbs and protein and some sugar, go for it. If you are looking for an excuse to overeat...don't do it!

Why not plan your meals around it instead? Don't eat the cookies they provide you - rather, bring your own healthy snack!

I would suggest plenty of fluides and try and stick with calorie count but if you can't or feel sick I would add a little something to your diet. They normal tell you these things when one donates.
