Training for an 8K, anyone else?

I've just started training for the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle. I've done many 5Ks over the past few years, but an 8K will be my longest distance. Anyone else in the same boat?
I am using the Hal Higdon training guide:

Lemme know, it'd be fun to have some more support!

I am running a race where I live in IL, called the Stream Boat Classic, I have a choice between 4 miles or 9. I am training for the 9. I am running 5 days a week, but have not started an actual training program for it yet. This will be by far my longest too, I am nervous and very excited at the same time! Good luck to you! I am going to check out your training guide. Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like!0

Hi, there! I'm currently training for my third half-marathon, and I'm aiming to break the 2:30 mark. Best of luck to you both! I look forward to hearing all your successes!0
