E-Cigs

I purchased some cheap ones a few weeks ago, I liked using these ecigs so much I decided to upgrade. I just ordered some from Halo that are supposed to be great according to the reviews. Since I started using ecigs, I rarely smoke real cigarets, I went from a pack a day to 3-5 and should be done with it entirely in the next week or 2.
Ecigs are the greatest things since sliced bread in my book  The price has come down a lot in the last couple of years which is an added bonus.
I've researched these things and it seems that they are not bad for your health. With these, you get the best of both worlds, you get to enjoy smoking(the proper term is "vaping") without inhaling all the tar and other bad stuff from regular smokes.
For those that are unfamiliar with ecigs, it's not really smoking. What you inhale is water vapor with nicotine in it. The liquid that many manufacturers us in the filter(doesn't filter anything out, but it's the part where the filter would be on a normal cig) is made from USDA approved food additives that we consume in food everyday.
Anyone else try these?

Haven't tried them yet, but both my husband and I plan on doing so within the next couple of weeks. Glad to hear they are working for you!0

My husband has been using them for a year and swears by them. They are not available in Canada so he was having them shipped to him until they were confiscated by customs (which really sucked since we were out of pocket for them). His doctors all have told him that they do not pose a health concern. Now, he buys the nicotine (which is legal) and refills the cartridges himself.0

make sure you research a lot before you spend the money. This is one product where you don't get exactly what you pay for. I'm new as I said, but I've read about a lot of people who drop a ton of money only to find something that's better and cheaper.
I can give you the website of the place where I first bought mine. You probably will want to upgrade like me after a few weeks, but it will give you an idea of they work and a better understanding of what you want. Who knows, you might not even desire to try out anything else.
my initial investment was about 30 bucks and they were great at helping me find what I wanted.
If I remember, I'll update this post once my Halo's arrive.0 -

Isn't that crazy? Since I started, my wind has comeback and I feel great. Any government that would ban these is not doing so because of health concerns, they are doing them to stop the loss in taxes they are losing from people making the switch. I fear the US will do the same.0 -
Please provide the website! Thanks0

I quit tobacco 2 1/2 years ago with an eCig. I truly believe this product saved my life. I will never undo the damage I did to my lungs, but I showed my eCig to my pulmonologist, and he thought it was pretty cool. Despite the permanent damage, I breath much better, and while I'll never run a marathon, I can do my daily cardio without coughing up a lung.
I started with a Joye 510 starter kit. It's a great choice for first-timers, as it's satisfying and reasonably priced. A lot of web sistes sell them for around $30-$40 for a kit. You do have to buy the nicotine liquid to refill it with, but that's pretty cheap, and you can get it in hundreds of flavors.
I've since switched to the Joye eGo model for better vapor and longer battery life. It's a bit more expensive (around $60 for a kit), but I love it. A good vendor with good prices and quick shipping is ecigsupply.com, and another is ecigexpress.com.
There is an on-line eCig forum just like MFP! It's e-cigarette-forum.com. Check it out - lots of good info on different models, vendor and product reviews, video tutorials, etc.
Kick the butt! Get an eCig and change your life! Good luck!0 -
I use mine whenever I am in a situation that requires it. For instance we went to a hotel last weekend with my mom and son (both of whom I choose not to smoke around) and it came in very handy!0

www.becomeanex.org This is a site that helped me quit....There are a lot of people there that are using and did use the ecig as well to help them. And it's free! check it out:)0

I would love to try these! I have cut down to a few a day on my own, and at one point had stopped entirely (for a short time). Back to a few a day... trying to get back to none! I think this would definitely help me as most times when I smoke now I think it's gross and wonder why I am still doing it, but just can't will myself to stop entirely. The patch gave me the jitters and I couldn't sleep = that was the biggest thing... I need sleep.0

My cousin has been a smoker for years and the only time she quit was when she was pregnant with her daughter, but went right back to it. I actually researched the e-cigs and told my aunt who then told my cousin. She's using the brand call Blu and has been using them since December of last year. She says they work great and she had cut down to like 2 cigarettes a day, the only exception being when her daughter had to have an emergency tonsillectomy, but it was understandable considering she had just started.0

It is a step in the right direction way to go. I smoked for many years up in quiet March 19, 2011 so it will be a year, come March 19, 2012. I don’t miss it at all. I have only quiet or tried 3 other times and two of those times were when I was pregnant. Otherwise I kept going back to it and last year at this time I just had enough. Cold turky I did it ever time and so far I have been doing really well.0

I wish I could get my mom to try them. I asked her if I bought them for her if she would just try them, but she said no. It's really frustrating that she won't just try them out. What would be the harm in trying them? I just can't figure her out sometimes.
It would be so nice to be able to spend more time with my mom. But niether my husband nor I can handle being around cigarette smoke, and we refuse to expose our daughter to it. It's really a shame.0 -
If you're going to spend money on an e-cig, get the best one on the market.
provape.com
My boyfriend has the ProVape model (which has a LIFETIME WARRANTY - the only one on the market that does) and I have the fancier one, the ProVari, which has adjustable amperage, it tells you the battery life, and has a little LED screen. Even with all that, I've dropped it on cement 10 times or so and it's still kicking. You will spend between 120-200 depending on the model you get, with batteries and extra atomizers, but TOTALLY WORTH IT.
You DO NOT need to smoke cigarettes if you have one of these. You will still crave them at times, but you're actually not craving the tobacco, but all the other nasty chemicals in them.
We've been using them for about 8 months. I used to have the Joye Ego but it was a gigantic hassle and did not produce nearly as much vapor.
Seriously. I would not use this thing if it was a pain in the butt. I made a promise to myself that I would no longer step outside for a cig during work hours, and I just bought a car, so no smoking in that, either. If I do want a cig after work, I have one, but we went several months not smoking any real cigs at all, just relying on the e-cig.
I can't tell you enough how awesome these things are without sounding like I'm pimping the site out. But seriously, if you're going to spend money on an e-cig, get one that's worth the guff. It comes with the battery charger and long-lasting ion batteries. No more of that "plug it in to the USB" garbage.
MSG me if you have any other questions about it. I'm just really excited by this product. :b
***Just FYI, there are cheaper places to buy the e-juice and the atomizers than on this site. Just dig around and do your research. Some juices definitely taste better than others. You might have to try a few samples from sites before you find a flavor of PG/VG e-juice that you actually like. It comes in tobacco flavor, menthol, and all different kinds of fruity/assorted flavors. I stick with the regular old tobacco flavor.0 -

actually - from what I understand the damage will be repaired after a certain length of time! so good news there!0 -
I used an e-cig for a couple of weeks. I was pretty much ready to quit, but I just needed a little more time. After using my e-cig for one whole day without real cigarettes, I never picked them up again. I haven't had a real cig in over a month, and I even quit using my e-cig. Its been a couple of weeks since I've used it.0

Unfortunately, not for me. I smoked so much I ended up with COPD & emphysema. I've gotten better, but I'll never be completely back to normal. Sucks, but I manage it with daily inhalers. For folks who haven't done permanent damage yet, there is still hope, as your lungs do heal up after a while. I use myself as a lesson in what NOT to do.0
